Family Kids & Youth launches the 7th round of its Wellbeing and the Internet Study: findings relating to early adolescents will be presented at Sheffield to the Children’s Media Conference on 8 July 2026
At a time when the whole world is talking about children and young people’s use of social media, we have carried out 6 workshops in Essex, Hertfordshire, and London schools with 104 pupils in Years 6 – 10 (age 10 – 15). We wanted to understand pupils’ views on potential restrictions, how they spend their time online and what they would like their online world to look like. We are now about to launch the quantitative phase of the study, which will be a nationally representative survey of 1,000 7-16 year olds across the UK. This is a syndicated study carried out since 2018, with results tracking data from previous years, edited films from the workshops, and a presentation of results. Findings relating to early adolescents (age 10-14) will be presented with our colleague and friend, David Squire, at the Children’s Media Conference 2026, held in Sheffield in July.
