Green Alliance launched its new report Work in Progress: Getting Young People Ready for Jobs in the 2030s at the Houses of Parliament on 20 May 2026. FK&Y was pleased to carry out the research, exploring young people’s attitude to jobs in the green sector. The research included in-school workshops with Year 11 and Year 12 pupils, 4 online focus groups with young people aged 15-21 – including those at university, on vocational schemes and apprenticeships and NEET. This was followed by in-depth interviews and groups with school careers lead, teachers, careers advisers and education experts about the future of jobs and careers for young people. With youth unemployment at a 10-year high and AI reshaping entry level work, the report analyses and maps how the green and AI transitions will reshape jobs and skills across 12 sectors over the next decade. Green Alliance launched the report, along with its sponsor, OVO Foundation, setting out the way in which the government can ensure young people are ready for the jobs of the 2030s. This includes careers guidance, curriculum reform, and fully resourcing Skills England. FK&Y was invited to be at the Parliament launch along with some of the young people who took part in the research and the deputy headteacher from their school.
